Developed by the New York Experiment Station, the Darrow Blackberry is named for a famous berry
breeder at the U.S.D.A.
This highly productive plant yields enormous ebony-black, juicy sweet blackberries that seem to melt in your mouth. It is without question the best blackberry variety you can grow!
We filled a one-quart basket with DARROW and a second quart basket with another popular variety. The basket of DARROW took just 45 berries to fill it to the brim, while the other common variety took well over a hundred. Some fruits of DARROW measure 1 ¾” long and 1 ½ “across.
It’s delicious flavor, high yields, enormous size, long season of bearing and perfect hardiness in the coldest parts of the country make DARROW one of the most valuable of all species for eating fresh, for dessert toppings, or pie fillings, jams and jellies.
